Saxon Goods Lifts has recently completed the installation of two stainless steel clad goods lifts for the new Cranswick Country Foods factory in Hull.

The two mast driven goods only lifts are based on the latest modular design of lift manufactured by Saxon Goods Lifts of Daventry. The free-standing lift has a mast suspended internal lift car, travelling within a fully clad, fire rated, lift shaft. The new design does not require a traditional lift pit or overhead winding gear, reducing cost and installation time.

The food manufacturing specification goods lifts, rated to carry 2000 Kg, transfer pallets and roll cages between the ground floor and mezzanine levels in the factory, have 6.6 metres lift height and travel at 100 mm per second. The lift controls are standard facia mounted push button design , with call accept lamps and position indicators at each level.

The flexible lift design allows for different configurations. At Cranswick Country Foods the lift serves the two levels, with an open through lift car arrangement, manually operated one hour fire rated landing doors and manually operated folded steel gates on the lift car. All the lift gates are electro-mechanically interlocked to the lift travel.

Cranswick Country Foods manufacture a range of cooked meats and gourmet sausages and following the acquisition of Lazenby's, is in the process of increasing its premium pork sausage business to serve the major supermarkets. The new factory in Hull is designed to manufacture 25 tonnes of sausages per day in using latest food manufacturing technology and systems.

Commenting on the installation, Engineering Manager, Greame Watson said: "This new factory represents a major investment for Cranswick and the two story factory operation demanded efficient and reliable goods lifts built to the highest specification to meet our requirements."

The goods lifts installed at Cranswick Country Foods are part of a new range of mast driven goods only lifts designed and manufactured by Saxon Goods Lifts. The standard design will carry 2000 Kg between 3 levels with up to 8.0 meters lift travel. The design is rated for high frequency operation in a variety of applications. It also allows for easy installation and maintenance, and complies with all current legislation.
